The Hobbit:The Desolation of Smaug

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second film of the Peter Jackson adaptation of The Hobbit came out last weekend. Is it better than The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey or is it just another cash grab. Well I caught it and these are my thoughts.

The movie was good, but not great.  Before I go on reviewing the movie, I going to let you know what I thought of The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey in one word.  SLOWWW... Yes it was very slow, every scene was being drag out to make the movie longer.  With that said, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is just as slow or slower with no rhyme or reason.  Scene's feels force or it just to show new CGI technology or to show how vest the world is.  Dialog are just as waste of time, there are no big speech or line that add to the action or the motive of the characters.  There's one scene where one of the dwarfs try to tell the Okenshield that he change and how he become someone who is greedy, a coward, but the speech was so weak that anyone of the dwarfs or even a piece of the rock can give that speech and it wouldn't change how it should effect Okenshield.  The movie also struggle with trying to fit everything together.  Instead of making it blend in together, it cut right where the action is and it slow the pace down just to cut back to the action.  Speaking of the action, they are amazing when they happen. The camera work was good, and what else can I say about Legolas being back kicking butt.  With that said, the girl elf that Peter Jackson added just for the movie really do feel force as well.  Every scene she was in, it made be feel like she don't need to be there or it just so that certain scenes work. With everything I said about the movie, it wasn't a bad film or was a great film.  It was just a okay film where I would say go catch it but you won't miss much if you don't.

Final Rating:REDBOX IT!

Feel free to comment about my review.
